Showcasing Huell Howser’s Treasures at the John Wayne Airport Encouraging Visitors to Have a Sense of Adventure

The Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives at the Leatherby Libraries is pleased to announce that Chapman University has partnered with the John Wayne Airport Arts Program to exhibit a selection of the Huell Howser Archives running through May 1st, 2024.
Huell Howser was an American television personality, best known for his work hosting California’s Gold, a television program depicting Howser’s adventures exploring the State of California. Those visiting the John Wayne Airport will be able to experience Howser’s career and legacy through a selection of the California’s Gold TV show collection and his fascinating found art collection.
The exhibition can be found pre-security on the upper Departure Level in the walkway Gallery between Terminals B and C.

About the California’s Gold Exhibit and the Huell Howser Archives at Chapman University
The joy that the late TV legend Huell Howser shared with generations of Californians informs a permanent exhibit, sponsored by the Automobile Club of Southern California, and housed in Chapman University’s Leatherby Libraries. Celebrating its 10th year in 2024, the exhibit includes images, text, and artifacts, outlining Howser’s career and legacy in California. The Archives include materials and memorabilia from Huell Howser Productions and Huell Howser’s personal library.
