Kickstart Your New Year’s Resolution! Check out the National Hobby Month Display at the Leatherby Libraries' Reference Desk!

January 24, 2025

The Leatherby Libraries is excited to announce our first reference desk display of 2025, which celebrates National Hobby Month and encourages visitors to explore activities and interests that support creativity and relaxation. The books selected for this display encourage visitors to pick up or revisit hobbies such as gardening, baking, fitness, and more!

January is a month of New Year’s resolutions, and learning a hobby is a great way to start the year. A book included in this display is Apartment Gardening: Plants, Projects, and Recipes for Growing Food in Your Urban Home by Amy Pennington, which offers tips for growing fresh food in small spaces. This book is perfect for those passionate about gardening but may have a small apartment or no backyard. Another selection in this display is Baking Problems Solved by Stanley P. Cauvain, which provides solutions to common baking challenges and is helpful for those who want to learn how to make delicious treats.

Whether it is baking, ceramics, fitness, or gardening, hobbies are a great way to reduce stress, create a sense of accomplishment, and may even connect you to others with similar interests! So stop by our display to pick up a new book and let your new year be filled with creativity and growth!

The display will be up through the end of January! Visit the display at the Leatherby Libraries’ reference desk on the first floor.

This book display was curated by Leatherby Libraries Student Employees Isabella Piechota ’25, Arianna Tillman ’25, and Annikah Carpio ’26.
