Prof. Atanas Radenski will present his latest research at the upcoming Computational Sciences Research Seminar on October 23.

Want to learn more about MapReduce? Join the School of Computational Sciences on Wednesday, October 23 at 12pm in Von Neumann Hall for a research seminar presented by Professor
Atanas Radenski
.  No preliminary knowledge of MapReduce is expected!

Prof. Radenski will begin his presentation with a light introduction to MapReduce parallelism. He will then describe relaxation algorithms for the Laplace equation in MR streaming, and evaluate empirically their performance on Elastic MR, the Amazon MR cloud.  The results of his research is beneficial to others who would like to develop and optimize MR streaming algorithms for grid-based models, such as PDE and cellular automata.
