$1 Million Gift from Masimo Foundation to Go to New Labs
September 10, 2012
The Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare donated $1 million to Chapman University for the construction of new wet labs. Wet labs are essential to the study and development of biological sciences, as they allow student and faculty researchers to conduct experiments with chemicals, biological matter, or other materials in liquid solutions. A specific set-up is required for the study of materials in liquids.
The addition of the wet lab will help Chapman rise to a higher standard of scientific learning and discovery. Assistant professor Melissa Rowland-Goldsmith, Ph.D., believes this wet lab will be essential to driving student learning and better experiments. “Ultimately, the new Science Center will provide a betterlearning environment for our students to do independent research,” said Dr. Rowland-Goldsmith in the Pillars publication.
