New features for Padlet

Auto-captions

When any user uploads a video or audio to a post, Padlet will automatically transcribe it and add captions. At this time, English is supported however Padlet is working to support auto-captions in more languages.

What are auto-captions?

Captions appear at the bottom of videos. They provide a written record of the audio. Auto-captions are created by automatically transcribing any words spoken in a video or audio into text.

Auto-captions help make video and audio content accessible to all users, regardless of hearing ability. They are useful when watching videos in noisy environments and can aid comprehension for non-native speakers.

Where can I access auto-captions?

When you upload a video or audio, auto-captions are generated. To enable them, click the cog icon on the media player, then click “captions” and select the language. The captions will then be displayed at the bottom of the media player.

Gradebook and grade passback

If you use Padlet for assignments and graded activities, then the grade passpack will save you time and reduce errors. Gradebook is available on padlets created by instructors with a Padlet for Schools account.

How does it work?

Gradebook lets instructors grade posts from padlet. You can also provide written feedback for each student and view posts grouped by student.  Then you can sync grades and feedback to Canvas.

Talk for me can benefit a wide range of users. It’s great for anyone who wants to hear words pronounced correctly. This is especially useful for second-language learners who need audio support for text. Teachers will find it valuable when they want to share the exact pronunciation for vocabulary without recording their own voice.

How to access gradebook?

To access gradebook, click the three dots on your padlet to open the additional actions menu, then click Gradebook. If you’ve added the padlet as an assignment in Canvas, you’ll see the grade sync option.
