Each year the
Hart Vision Award
for the California Charter Schools of the Year is announced at the annual
California Charter Schools Association
Conference.  The 2014 California Charter School of the year is 
El Sol Science and Arts Academy
located in Santa Ana, CA.

The College of Educational Studies
has maintained a special relationship with El Sol Academy since its inception in 2001.  The College of Educational Studies relies on El Sol for bilingual student teaching assignments as well as teacher candidate fieldwork activities.  El Sol, in turn, has used the College of Educational Studies faculty for teacher and staff training.  Furthermore, College of Educational Studies faculty have conducted research pertaining to El Sol’s curriculum and programs.

It seems apparent that the eight Chapman alumni have contributed greatly to El Sol’s success.

California Business for Education Excellence
(CBEE) is a leading, unifying voice for California business leaders who are committed to improving public education, closing the achievement gap and helping to ensure college readiness and success.  After an extensive analysis of student achievement data for every public school in California, El Sol Science and Arts Academy stood well above the rest in getting its students to grade-level proficiency and beyond. It is for this reason that the CBEE has decided to name El Sol Science and Arts Academy to the
California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School
for 2013.
