Celebrate Women’s History at the Leatherby Libraries
March 8, 2016
The Leatherby Libraries is celebrating Women’s History Month!
Stop by the first floor to check out the display case dedicated to women who have challenged the status quo. At the center of the case is a spotlight on Chapman’s own Dr. Emily Carman, whose latest book,
Independent Stardom: Freelance Women in the Hollywood Studio System
, holds center stage. Dr. Carman is in good company, surrounded by books written by and about women as well as DVDs directed by women. However, the case covers more than just Hollywood. There are books about groundbreaking women scientists, artists, writers, poets, philosophers, and activists. From Diane Arbus to Hypatia to Gerda Lerner to Audre Lorde, women have left their marks on the world’s history. Come revel in their accomplishments with us.
The collected materials is just a small sampling of the works that the Leatherby Libraries holds that celebrate women’s contributions. If you would like to know more, just ask a librarian.
