Chapman Family Homecoming Celebration
promises to be just as action-packed of a weekend as last year. There is an
entire calendar of activities
hoping to connect the entire Chapman community—and the Leatherby Libraries are no exception. As always, the library is hosting a variety of interesting and entertaining events this year. We encourage you to check out what the Leatherby Libraries have to offer while visiting Chapman University.

Dialogue with the Dean: “Daniele C. Struppa: Our 13th President”
A special treat, join Dean Charlene Baldwin as she speaks about “Daniele C. Struppa: Our 13th President.” The Leatherby Libraries celebrates the
Inauguration of Chapman University’s thirteenth president
with a special display to honor his career at Chapman. Take a trip through the archives with Dean Baldwin, and learn more about Daniele C. Struppa’s legacy as mathematician, scholar, professor, chancellor, and now president.

Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives
to view “The Spirit of our Leaders: Presidents of Chapman University.” This exhibit is curated by Chloe Van Stralendorff, Special Collections Intern, who will be in attendance.

Come enjoy a self-guided tour of the arts and displays of the Leatherby Libraries. Meet staff and librarians, and learn more about the many programs, awards, benefits and services offered to Chapman University graduate and undergraduate students, alumni, faculty, and community members.

Homecoming Book Sale
The fun continues on Saturday with the library’s third Homecoming Book Sale—The library will have a table on the Aitken Arts Plaza of the new
Musco Center for the Arts
all day selling gently used books. These aren’t just academic or scholarly works, either—books for sale include bestselling fiction, travel guides, and more. This year we’ll also be selling pop and rock CDs. All used books and CDs will be available for purchase for only $1.00 each.
7th Annual Chapman Chili Cook-Off
Something spicy is in the air for Chapman’s 7th annual Chili Cook-Off. Come support the Leatherby Libraries and Town & Gown team at the Aitken Arts Plaza while sampling some unique chilis, listening to music and hanging out in the beer and wine garden.
California’s Gold Exhibit, Huell Howser Archive and Center for American War Letters
While you’re on campus, don’t miss these three spaces within the Leatherby Libraries!
California’s Gold exhibit
celebrates the life and career of Huell Howser. The joy that the late TV legend Huell Howser shared with generations of Californians infuses a
permanent exhibit sponsored by the Automobile Club of Southern California and housed in Chapman University’s Leatherby Libraries. The exhibit includes images, texts, and artifacts that depict Howser’s career and legacy in California. The exhibit is free and open to the public and located in the lower level of the Leatherby Libraries.
The Center for American War Letters
(CAWL) is a unique and extensive manuscript collection of previously unpublished war letters from every American conflict, beginning with handwritten missives composed during the Revolutionary War and continuing up to emails sent from Iraq and Afghanistan. These personal war-related correspondences are a vital record of the collective memory of the American people, as witnessed and articulated by service members, veterans, and their loved ones, who experienced these wars firsthand. The archives reading room features banners and displays of selected letters and artifacts from the CAWL collection. The exhibit is free and open to the public and located in the lower level of the Leatherby Libraries.
