Place Text Captions in Via Cascade
March 20, 2012
Hello Web Authors and Content Owners,
One of the common mistakes we are seeing as we comb through the site is this: Text is being placed inside image files as opposed to using Cascade’s text fields. This is a problem for a number of reasons:
- If alt tags are not properly applied to your picture, this could result in a failure to comply with ADA web standards. It is critical that we are ADA compliant.
- It is important that the site remains as consistant as possible throughout all 3,000 pages. This is important to the user’s experience, and from a branding perspective. The site’s design is altered when:
- Foreign and un-approved fonts are utilized
- Foreign and un-approved colors are utilized.
For example, figures 1-3 below provide a variety of fonts, colors, pictures, photography treatment, etc. Figure 4 displays how Cascade can add text to mastheads in a way that is ADA compliant, and consistant with the rest of the site:
Thanks again for all of your hard work. If we stick together on these important issues, we will have a cohesive, well designed site, ADA compliant website.
Best,
-dm
