Hello Web Authors and Content Owners,

One of the common mistakes we are seeing as we comb through the site is this: Text is being placed inside image files as opposed to using Cascade’s text fields.  This is a problem for a number of reasons:

  • If alt tags are not properly applied to your picture, this could result in a failure to comply with ADA web standards.  It is critical that we are ADA compliant.
  • It is important that the site remains as consistant as possible throughout all 3,000 pages.  This is important to the user’s experience, and from a branding perspective.  The site’s design is altered when:
    • Foreign and un-approved fonts are utilized
    • Foreign and un-approved colors are utilized.
For example, figures 1-3 below provide a variety of fonts, colors, pictures, photography treatment, etc.  Figure 4 displays how Cascade can add text to mastheads in a way that is ADA compliant, and consistant with the rest of the site:

Thanks again for all of your hard work.  If we stick together on these important issues, we will have a cohesive, well designed site, ADA compliant website.

Best,

-dm
