We are excited to announce that Professor Dale C. Allison Jr. will be the visiting Griset Professor for Spring 2019.

Professor Allison will be teaching Religion 324, Interpretation of the new Testament: The Gospels and The Historical Jesus on Mondays, 4-6:45 p.m. This course is designed to familiarize students with the issues involved in and generated by the so-called quest for the historical Jesus.

REL 324 meets the GE Requirements for Social Inquiry and Values and Ethics. This is open to all students.

About Professor Allison:

Professor Dale C. Allison Jr. is Richard J. Dearborn Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary. His academic research has focused on the historical Jesus, the Gospel of Matthew, the Sayings Gospel (Q), early Jewish and Christian eschatology, inner-biblical exegesis, the history of the interpretation and application of biblical texts, and the Jewish Pseudepigrapha.

About the Griset Lectureship:

This lectureship, together with the first endowed chair at Chapman University, was established in 1984 in the name of Belle Griset, whose son Francis Griset served as a Chapman Trustee for many years. The Griset Lectureship enables the Department to invite prominent scholars to campus to teach and deliver public lectures in the area of Christianity and ethics.
