Chapman alumna Priya Shah (’13 – Double major
history and Spanish
) was selected as a co-winner for the 2013 Award Winner in the undergraduate division for the prestigious
World History Association/
Phi Alpha Theta Student Paper Prize Award for her paper “Language, Discipline, and Power: The Extirpation of Idolatry in Colonial Peru and Indigenous Resistance.”

“The Student Paper Prize Committee members were truly impressed at your level of dedication and professionalism as reflected in the submission.  It is through outstanding students like you that the field of world history continues to grow in importance and relevance,” said Winston Welch, Executive Director of The World History Association.

Shah will receive a check and certificate as part of her winnings, as well as a membership for a year in the WHA beginning January, 2014. In addition to that, her paper will be considered for possible inclusion into the
World History Association Bulletin
