Enhancing Security with SSO Integration for Zoom
March 12, 2025
We’re excited to announce an important update that will improve how we access Zoom. To strengthen Chapman University’s security and streamline your login experience, starting 5/28/25, we will require Single Sign-On (SSO) for all Zoom accounts at Chapman University.
Why SSO?
Security and convenience are crucial in today’s digital workplace. Requiring SSO with Zoom offers several key benefits:
- Enhanced Security
SSO reduces the risk of data breaches by eliminating the need to remember multiple passwords. By using your secure company credentials to log in, we ensure better control over access and mitigate the risks associated with weak or reused passwords. - Simplified User Experience
With SSO, you’ll only need one set of login credentials to access Zoom and other connected platforms. Say goodbye to password resets and juggling multiple accounts! - Compliance and Control
SSO ensures compliance with IT policies by centralizing access management. It also allows us to revoke access for former employees, safeguarding sensitive information instantly.
How Will This Work?
SSO uses your existing Chapman University email and password to log in to Zoom. Instead of creating or managing a separate Zoom password, you’ll authenticate through our centralized system.
Logging Into Zoom with SSO
For Desktop or Mobile:
-
- Open the Zoom application.
- Click SSO (not your email, Google, or other options)
- Enter your Chapman University email address
- You’ll be redirected to Chapman University’s login page. Enter your regular credentials (email and password).
- Once authenticated, you’ll be logged into Zoom!
For Web:
-
- Navigate to the Zoom web portal: Chapman.zoom.us.
- Click Sign in.
- Enter your regular credentials on the redirected login page.
- After successful authentication, you’ll access your Zoom dashboard.
Important Notes
- This change is mandatory for all Chapman University students, faculty, and staff starting 5/28/25.
- For privacy and security reasons, please ensure you never share your work credentials with anyone.
- This change removes the ability to sign in at https://zoom.com. Going forward, go to https://chapman.zoom.us to access Zoom on the web. Please update your bookmarks.
