Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) is working on several initiatives in support of Chapman University’s new strategic plan, Our Path to Excellence. Much of our work will focus on the strategic priority around Organizational Excellence. The team is particularly focused on the strategic priority of Organizational Excellence. One of our main initiatives is upgrading the Panther Analytics Reporting Platform to provide better access to data and offer more services to the University. Additionally, we are working on creating several online forms to improve the student experience by making processes more efficient. We are also allowing students to enter their preferred pronouns in multiple student and faculty systems.

IS&T is dedicated to keeping our systems up to date. For example, we are upgrading the Blackboard Transact system, which manages campus ID cards. We are also continually applying necessary patches and technical upgrades to their PeopleSoft Human Resources and Finance systems to ensure they are secure and current. Additionally, IS&T is partnering with the Office of Research to improve grants management processes through the Cayuse system, enhancing the integration between Cayuse and PeopleSoft systems and rolling out additional reports and dashboards to help manage the grants more efficiently.

Our team is undertaking other vital projects to improve efficiency and functionality across the University. For example, we have completed a project with the payroll department to create more efficient payroll processes. We are also starting an exciting project with the Student Health Center to implement a new Electronic Medical Records system. Moreover, the team is working closely with the Provost’s Office and student advisors to develop early warning and student success reports. Lastly, IS&T has implemented Nuventive, a system that tracks outcomes for accreditation, to support the University’s accreditation process better.

Panther Analytics Update:

The Data Services Team, formerly known as the Panther Analytics team, is increasing the use of Microsoft’s Power platform, which includes Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate, to deliver data and business process efficiencies across the University. The Data Services Team is working with the Financial Services, Argyros School of Business, School of Pharmacy, the Office of Research, IRADS (Institutional Research and Decision Support), Human Resources, the Provost’s Office, Events and Scheduling, Leatherby Libraries, and Athletics to deliver dashboards in support of their journey to Digital Transformation.

While the Data Services Team provides support to various University departments in generating reports to aid data-driven decisions, their primary value lies in data analysis, transformation, integration, and visualization. They also play a critical role in maintaining the University’s commitment to Data Governance by overseeing the campus-wide Data Dictionary, which documents how data is defined and used throughout the campus.
