On Saturday, May 19 ceremonies for Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences graduates took place on the Chapman football field and we would like to congratulate all the graduates on a job well done!

Congratulations are also in order to Professor Don Will, Director of the Peace Studies Program, Chair of the Department of Political Science, and Associate Dean of Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences for being honored with an Excellence in Service award and Professor Dick Doetkott, Department of Communication Studies for his Excellence in Teaching award. Professor Doetkott died unexpectedly in December and his daughter was there to accept the award for him.

The ceremonies also included a presentation of an honorary doctorate to the Rev. Paul Nagano, a student at Chapman in 1942 when he was sent to an internment camp when the United States decided to arrest many of its Japanese-American citizens during World War II and environmental activist Ocean Robbins who delivered the commencement address, telling graduates to continue nurturing the intellectual curiosity and desire to learn as they go forth into life after college.

Finally, we would like to send out a special congratulations to graduates Ryan Massey, BFA Screen Acting and his fiance Holly McDaniel, BA Religious Studies. Massey proposed to McDaniel on stage while she was receiving her diploma.
