April 28, 2014
Wilkinson College students Phillip Lorenzo and Megan McKeown recently traveled to Ohio to present their research at the “Africa & The Global Atlantic World Conference” hosted this year by Kent State University.
Keynote speaker and senior scholar Horace Campbell warmly welcomed the students as the only two undergraduates invited to present.
With support from the Office of Undergraduate Research, the History Department, The Political Science Department, and the Student Government Association, Megan McKeown, a Peace Studies major and Women Studies minor, presented her oral history research on “Women and Power in the African Past.”
Phillip Lorenzo, a History and Economics Major, presented his research on “The Transatlantic Slave Trade and the Portuguese Prazeros: An Economic Creation of Cultural Identity.” Look for the revised conference papers soon to be published.
Congratulations Megan and Phillip!
