The Political Science department gets requests by various parties to announce their internship opportunities. We do not endorse any of these offers, but we make them available to all of our majors. It is up to each student to determine if any of these offers suits their interests. We are completely non-partisan. We do not solicit offers, but we simply make them available to you.

    We are currently recruiting energetic and dedicated phone banking interns on a voluntary basis to support our campaign. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to bolster their resumes with hands-on experience working on a statewide political campaign while earning community service hours and a letter of recommendation. Students can sign up for phone banking shifts using the following link:  http://signup.com/go/cfhjZDn for 3 hour shifts until the general election on November 6.     The Washington, DC office of Congressman Alan Lowenthal (CA-47) is recruiting interns for fall 2018. Undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students are eligible to apply. Both part-time and full-time internships are available. Although the internships are unpaid, the office can assist with requesting course credit from your school or university. The internship program at Congressman Lowenthal’s Washington, DC office offers an opportunity to experience the legislative process at work, while being an integral part of the staff. Interns will see firsthand how a congressional office operates to address the concerns of its constituents. Interns will also have opportunities to meet their peers on Capitol Hill and to interact with representatives from federal agencies, nonprofits, non-governmental organizations, advocacy groups, and research institutions. Legislative duties include attending congressional briefings, hearings, and receptions; writing memos and briefs; drafting constituent correspondences; and conducting policy research. Administrative duties include processing mail, answering telephones, performing data entry, and assisting the staff when needed. Interns also lead constituents on tours of the United States Capitol Building. In addition to providing a hands-on experience for interns, our office strives to teach interns skills that are applicable in almost all professional settings.   • The Congressional Leadership Fund is a Republican Political Action Committee operating across the country to support candidates for election in the US House of Representatives. Our office is accepting college and graduate student interns to volunteer for course credit, required graduation volunteer hours, a way to build their resume or simply just to experience and understand the election process. Our interns participate in conducting phone surveys in our call center and door to door in-person surveys with registered voters.     The Josh Lowenthal for Assembly 2018 campaign seeks assertive individuals to conduct voter outreach to help ensure a Democratic victory across Orange County in November. Responsibilities will include making phone calls and/or door-to-door canvassing to identify supporters of the candidate, persuading those who are still undecided, and educating voters on the voting process. Must be able to walk quickly from door-to-door, have a valid Driver’s License, reliably insured vehicle and a cell phone. The hours are Mon-Thu 3:30pm-8:30pm. Sat. 9:30am-2:30pm, Sun. 12:00pm-5pm.
