Attention Communication Students in their senior year!
The application deadline for the Patricia & Richard Doetkott and the Womack Most Inspirational Senior Awards is 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Applications must be sent via email to Dr. Riva Tukachinsky. Applicants MUST include the name of the award (Womack or Doetkott) in the email subject line in order to be considered.
See the completed application form below. It includes:
- Resume (up to 300 words)
- Essay why you are a good candidate for the award (100-150 words)
- Names, affiliations, emails, and phone numbers for two (2) references. No need for letters of recommendation. At least one reference should be a COM/SCC faculty.
Department of Communication Studies Award Application
Bill Womack Most Inspirational Senior
Presented each year to the student who best exemplifies the supportive and caring spirit of Prof. Bill Womack. The award goes to a student who provides inspiration to other Communication students.
Examples can include students who overcame significant obstacles in obtaining their education; high performing students with varied life experiences and unusual background; students who serve underprivileged populations through mentorship and volunteer work or use their education to promote significant societal causes.
Patricia & Richard Doetkott Award
Patricia & Richard Doetkott were special people in the history of the Communication Studies Department.
This award goes to a student whose passion for communication and learning extends beyond the classroom. For example, students who pursued a substantial communication research project outside the classroom; students who undertook notable leadership positions that involved learning or educating others about communication issues.
