Security updates are released by Apple to address known security vulnerabilities and improve your device’s overall security. These updates often include patches for critical security flaws that could be exploited by hackers to gain unauthorized access to your device or steal your personal information. To stay protected against threats, it is essential to install security updates on your devices regularly.

In addition to fixing security vulnerabilities, these updates improve the performance and stability of your device. This means that by keeping your device up to date with the latest security updates, you protect yourself against potential security threats and ensure your device runs smoothly and efficiently.

As part of our commitment to ensuring our campus community’s data security and safety, Chapman University Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) will soon start pushing security updates to Chapman-owned macOS and iOS devices.

To enhance security on Chapman-owned devices, we will be notifying users multiple times over the next few weeks to remind you to update your device’s security. If you have not updated your device by the final notification, we will push the update to your device. You can then choose to update immediately or schedule a convenient time. If you keep your devices up to date, this process will not impact you.

At this time, we plan to provide security updates to Chapman-owned devices and not perform any full operating system updates. Rest assured, this will not impact any of the applications installed on your device, nor cause any compatibility issues.

We highly recommend installing the latest security updates even if you do not use a Chapman-owned device.

Stay safe and secure!
