Last year, a cross-functional committee evaluated many of the major video content management providers to identify the best product to meet both the academic and administrative needs for video content management and distribution at Chapman University.

The committee has decided to partner with YuJa to provide an all-in-one video experience to create, manage, discover, and share video content across devices. YuJa also integrates into Canvas, making it easier for instructors to create, store, and share videos for their students. YuJa will replace Panopto as the campus video capturing and storage solution. Initially intended for Lecture Capture, many faculty utilize Panopto as an integrated tool inside Canvas to automatically capture zoom recordings. It is also a common platform used for the distribution of public-facing videos. IS&T anticipates fully turning off access to Panopto in November 2022 and switching to YuJa as a replacement product for existing usage.

All Panopto videos created in the past three years are anticipated to be automatically migrated from Panopto to YuJa in June 2022. Additionally, IS&T plans to migrate content with documented viewership older than three years.

Key Dates

  • March 28, 2022 – YuJa launches
  • June 2022 – Existing content migrates into YuJa
  • July 2022 – Zoom integration in Panopto will be disabled
  • End of September 2022 – Existing content migrates into YuJa (2nd batch, 3/22 to 7/22)
  • November 2022 – Panopto becomes unavailable

IS&T will continue to update the Chapman community with the project’s progress and information on training workshops via IS&T’s YuJa page and the Working @ Chapman newsletter. Please visit the Educational Technology Services programming site to sign up for YuJa training sessions.
