Meet Jessi Lumsden!
Jessi majored in Business Administration (Management Emphasis) and had an interdisciplinary cluster in Leadership Studies. Currently, Jessi is earning her MBA and expects to graduate in 2025. During her time at Chapman, Jessi was highly involved on campus. She was on the Chapman’s Women’s Volleyball Team, the Co-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and an active member in her sorority, Delta Gamma.
A Cherished Beginning at Chapman
Jessi Lumsden’s journey at Chapman University began in 2018 when she first set foot on campus. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Jessi’s time at Chapman has left an indelible mark on her heart. She shares, “I love Chapman, I knew as a first year in 2018 when I first stepped onto the campus that I was in the right spot. It has been so special working at the university now, getting to experience the campus and its students, but now in the next phase of my life that Chapman prepared me so well for.”
A Star on the Court and Beyond
During her undergraduate years at Chapman, Jessi excelled both academically and athletically. As a student-athlete, she was a three-time All-Conference, two-time All-Region, and two-time All-American volleyball player. Her dedication to her sport and academic pursuits reflect the strong work ethic that Chapman instilled in her. As previously stated, Jessi was highly involved on campus and took on many leadership roles on campus, serving as the Co-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of Delta Gamma. Her involvement in these organizations showcased her commitment to making a positive impact and deepened her sense of belonging within the Chapman community.

Jessi’s academic journey at Chapman was guided by her pursuit of a Business Administration degree with an Emphasis in Management. She was drawn to the program’s structure and flexibility, allowing her to explore various upper-division electives. Reflecting on her experience, Jessi notes, “The program also has great professors and staff that pushed me to be the best version of myself and helped me graduate in 3.5 years.”
A Foundation for the Future
Chapman University was pivotal in shaping Jessi’s confidence and leadership abilities. Her time at Chapman challenged her to reach for her goals relentlessly. She shares, “The university challenged me not only as a student but as a leader and has helped me advance so early in my career/post-graduation.” While being a full-time student-athlete presented challenges, Jessi was determined to gain professional experience through internships during her off-seasons. Her internships in marketing, development, and promotions within collegiate athletics organizations honed her skills and prepared her for her future career.
Memories to Cherish
Among her many cherished memories at Chapman, Jessi highlights two significant moments. Firstly, the 2019 volleyball season, where her team achieved an unprecedented 23-5 record and hosted the first round of the conference tournament, stands out. Secondly, her senior night in 2021, a moment of celebration for all her accomplishments, holds a special place in her heart.
A Bright Future
Jessi’s future aspirations align with her passion for collegiate athletics. She aspires to work in Division III collegiate athletics and become an Athletic Director. Pursuing an MBA is the next step in her career journey to help her fulfill this dream.
