Last week, IS&T made an announcement regarding the a recent cyber-attack on Pulse VPN. Many of the victims of this attach range from Financial Institutions, Higher Education, Government Agencies, and even Defense Contractors. Fortunately, Chapman University has not been affected by the recent attack and IS&T has already implemented the recommended mitigations. However, we are not out of the woods yet. More action will need to be taken to further strengthen our defenses against the ongoing attacks. Pulse VPN has notified their global clients that a software security patch will be available as early as next week. Once the patch becomes available, our IS&T team will implement it immediately.

Although we normally avoid running system updates during business hours, due to the high level of threat, IS&T may need to run the security update during business hours. Please be aware that there may be a temporary VPN service interruption during the security update process.

IS&T will provide more information as soon as it becomes available to help our VPN user plan accordingly for any potential service interruptions.
